Pol Roger Champagne
Pol Roger is a Grande Marque Champagne. That doesn't refer to its size or
status, but rather to a group of producers who, at the turn of the century,
established exacting quality controls for the meticulous, traditional methods of
producing the finest Champagne. One of only a few Grande Marque Champagne houses
still completely family owned and operated, Pol Roger was established in Epernay
in 1849 by Pol Roger. After his death in 1899, his sons added their father's
first name to their last name, legally changing the family name to Pol-Roger.
POL ROGER CHAMPAGNE, BRUT
The Brut Non Vintage blend is traditionally composed from about 30 to 35 still
base wines, drawn from different vineyard sites, grape varieties and vintage
years. It usually contains wines of at least two vintages, often three or four.
POL ROGER CHAMPAGNE, BRUT VINTAGE 90
Vintage Brut is only produced in declared vintage years
POL ROGER CHAMPAGNE, CHARDONNAY VINTAGE 90
Pol Roger Brut Chardonnay Grape varieties: Chardonnay 100%. This vintage
personifies blanc de blancs: it is lively, fruity and elegant.
POL ROGER CHAMPAGNE, WINSTON CHURCHILL CUVEE
The Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is the prestige cuvée of the House. The Cuvée
was created as a tribute to the great man, as he was a close friend of the Pol-Roger
family and long time consumer of the champagne. The exact composition is a
closely guarded secret but relies on a formula of which its namesake would
heartily have approved. The Cuvée is composed of the only the finest grapes from
the very best vineyards (and only those from within the Champagne area under
vine in Sir Winston’s day), chosen for declaration in only the best vintage
years. Tom Stevenson has said this is "the greatest prestige cuvée of recent
times".
